'Roger Childs died in Spain after a long illness on 9th June 2010. He was very active as a ski mountaineer throughout the 1980s and 1990s principally in Scotland, the Pyrenees, Spain, Svalbard and Greece. Tough, determined and always excellent company, Roger was an accomplished traveller and a stalwart companion who will be greatly missed. He was elected a member of the Alpine Ski Club in 1987 and a aspirant member of the Alpine Club in 1997. A full obituary will be published in the next Alpine Journal.'
