Cordillera Darwin - Chilean Tierra del Fuego. 12th February to 6th March 2011

The trip will commence and finish in Ushuaia - the most southerly city in the world. From there the mountains are approached by the chartered yacht - Iorana. This can accommodate six people plus the captain - Marcel de Letter - an amiable Belgian guy who lives on-board the boat based in Ushuaia.  From Ushguaia the Beagle Channel is crossed to Puerto Williams, the entry point into Chile. From this town it's west along the channel to a beautiful anchorage at Caleta Ola. From here Monte Frances (2200m) and Monte Bove (2400m) can be accessed. These peaks have easy routes up them and have been ascended only 8 and 3 times respectively since their first ascents by Eric
Shipton etc in 1962. Time permitting the yacht could go further west along the Beagle Channel for more exploration in this pristine mountain wilderness. It's a great place, but be aware, it does get some weather!

Costs: Flights to Ushuaia approx £1000 pp from UK.
Yacht charter (full board service) approx ?1400 pp based on all the places being filled.
$500 for accommodation/spending money/hillfood &supplies in Ushuaia.
